Rajarshi Gurukul joyfully opened its doors and hearts to a vibrant cultural exchange with Kerala Vidyodaya School, Kochi, from May 4th to 9th, 2025. What unfolded during this special week was far beyond planned activities; it blossomed into a heartfelt celebration of unity, tradition, learning and lasting friendships.

From the moment our guests, ten enthusiastic Grade VII students and two devoted teachers, arrived at the airport, they were embraced with warm smiles, heartfelt hugs and a colorful welcome ceremony that set a festive tone for the days ahead. Right from the start, it was clear something truly special was beginning.
The week brimmed with enriching experiences that beautifully blended heritage, storytelling, art and academics into a harmonious celebration. Students marveled at the timeless beauty of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, immersing themselves in centuries of history.
Adorned in their cultural finery, students lit up the stage with traditional dances Lakhey, Tamang Selo, Thiruvathira and Mohiniyattam during Rajarshi Gurukul’s twelfth Anniversary of Togetherness. This vibrant celebration also featured a dazzling fashion show, lively games and a symbolic cake cutting ceremony that united everyone in joyous cheer.
As the days unfolded, bonds of friendship and respect grew stronger. The group explored iconic Kathmandu landmarks such as Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Guhyeshwari before diving into a burst of creativity through collaborative Rangoli and Madhubani art inspired by Kerala’s rich culture. Their spirit of adventure extended into nature with a refreshing morning hike to Muhan Pokhari and Bojini Dam, while a thrilling STEM Quiz Competition challenged their minds and showcased teamwork and mutual respect.

One of the most touching moments was the T-shirt painting and gift exchange where students expressed their pride in their cultures with vibrant colors and imagination. The week also featured an insightful podcast session with Kerala’s teachers discussing the transformative power of cross-cultural learning and its role in shaping the future of education.
When the final day of the exchange arrived on May ninth, farewells were exchanged with heavy hearts and full spirits. Our dear friends from Kochi departed Kathmandu on May tenth, but the warmth and inspiration they left behind continue to resonate throughout Rajarshi Gurukul. This exchange was a beautiful reminder that when cultures meet with open minds and hearts, borders dissolve, friendships flourish and learning become a soulful journey.

This was far more than a cultural program. It was a shared story of laughter, learning, dance, dialogue and most importantly two schools becoming one family. We eagerly look forward to building many more bridges of friendship and understanding in the years to come.
